Hi!

My name is Mille Bessö, I’m a skier, a dad and a wannabe programmer. The exact order varies by season.

I have roughly 30 years of experience in Software Engineering, as a developer and as a manager, and Product Management. I enjoy all aspects of building things, be it software, products or services or teams for that matter.

The background for the name Nice Working Prototype is an anecdote that happened in the early 2000’s. The company I worked for then went on a shopping spree and bought companies all over Europe. The reason for this particular acquisition was due to their advanced technology. During the first introduction to the technology and the team behind it, a consultant that was assisting with the acquisition said out loud, “oh, well that’s a nice working prototype!”. The room went dead silent and then the Engineering Manager explained for a long time how much revenue the platform made.

Thing is, they were both right. The platform had clearly gaps and was stitched together in places that should not be accepted, but it was also an advanced piece of software and made heaps of money. The lesson, a nice working prototype that ships will beat a pristine code base that doesn’t, at least for a while.

The prototypes built here won’t go into production, but it’s a fun way to test ideas and gain experience.
